A couple weeks ago, I wrote a post about a new "secret-song". (Read it here if you haven't)

For those who follow me on twitter, you've seen me ramble about laying down drum tracks over the week-end, etc., so here's the drill! I did finish the drum tracks. I've been using Reason for over 5 years, in which there's a small, easy to use drum plugin in which you basically map out up to 10 sounds to create rythms and drum patterns, which you can then import into a recording software such as Cubase (the one I use) or Protools, or Adobe Audition etc.

Anyhow, all this time I felt like the drum sounds were less than good enough, they all sounded electronic-y and made all my home studio efforts sound very amateurish. All my previous songs are a testimony to that. Dumb me never took the time to explore Reason properly..couple hours of fiddling around was all it took to realize that the drum engine I was using all this time, called ReDrum, was limited to not just 10 sounds, but 10 sound samples. Turns out Reason has this neat engine called Combinator, which allows you to load a bunch of patches to create a single sound. For example, 10 wav files for a bass drum, 13 wav files for a snare drum etc. Needless to say, the sound quality is much, much better than anything I've ever recorded with, to the point that I'm really considering re-mapping the drums for my older songs.

So, after almost 3 years out of the studio, here is the first preview of my new "secret song". I will put the lyrics and title out when it's really completed.
For now, you get drums and guitar I, completely unmixed, unbalanced and unmastered. I suggest listening to it with earphones, most of them will give you a better feel of the drum's low frequencies (the thump of the bass drum mainly).
