It has been long in the making, but after teasing you with a scrambled lyric sheet almost 2 months ago, and a low-quality drum+guitar sample exactly a month ago, I am finally done with my new track.

The song title which I've kept until now, is Caïperina. What it means and what it represents is known to few, ask and you might get lucky. What I will say however is that it is one of those songs that took a life of its own. The riff came to me randomly, in those first fleeting moments of perfection, the naive butterflies that start most relationships. The chorus came soon after, and as that relationship evolved, parts of the songs naturally came into place. Words here and there - not even full sentences - accompaniments and rhythmic ideas, I took it all down on whatever napkins, paper, or plane ticket I could find to write over the course of 3 years.

I never could tell if it was a "happy song" or a "sad song". I didn't to impose anything on it, never wanted to sit and finish it forcefully, it had to just keep building until it was done. I mentioned in my first post about it that I waited for the "right events" to allow me to finish it, and today I know that it never was about being happy, or sad, it was just an attempt to make things right, for things to remain right, it is a hopeful song.

I am currently awaiting the final mix. My old friend Jean-Philippe Chartrand made a fantastic job on the mastering, making me sound like I can actually sing (without auto-tune, promise) and allowing each of the tons of tracks the song contains room to breath and yet be nicely part of the whole.

It is now online here
